Invisalign® Clear Aligners
One of the reasons people prefer using Invisalign to straighten their teeth instead of metal braces is because of the simpler treatment process. You don’t have to change your diet or visit the dentist as often when you use this simple aligner therapy. This makes Invisalign a popular orthodontic choice for adults with fast-paced lifestyles and teens who may struggle with confidence due to misaligned teeth.
Consultation
At your initial consultation with Dr. Maya Assi, she’ll take 3D scans of your mouth using our iTero Element® Scanner to get a full view of your teeth. This technology allows her to chart the course of your Invisalign treatment and show what your finished smile will look like. Your scans will be sent to an Invisalign lab to custom-make your clear trays.
It’ll take a couple of weeks for our Coral Springs, FL practice to receive your Invisalign trays. Dr. Assi will make sure that your new aligners properly fit and give you detailed care instructions to ensure they don’t get damaged.
Wearing Your Trays
To stay on track with your treatment, we recommend you wear your Invisalign trays for 20 to 22 hours a day. While you can take them out to clean them and eat, you must practice a consistent regimen to experience the best results. A new set of Invisalign aligners will be sent to you directly every two weeks so you won’t have to visit us every time.
Checkups with Dr. Assi will be scheduled every six to eight weeks to ensure your teeth are gradually shifting into place. Since these changes will take place over several months, you may not notice any changes at first. However, Dr. Assi can show you comparison images to give you a good idea of your smile’s progress.
The End Result
You can have a straighter smile in as little as 12 months. The exact length of your treatment depends on your unique dental situation, but the Invisalign process takes an average of half the time compared to metal braces. Dr. Assi will give you a more accurate treatment time during your initial consultation. We’ll also be able to show you what your teeth can potentially look like after Invisalign therapy with our dental technology.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Invisalign aligners removable?
Absolutely! Invisalign aligners are completely removable. You have to remove your aligners to clean them and your teeth as well as when you eat. Your aligners will be fitted to the natural groves of your teeth. If you have trouble getting your aligners in your mouth, your dentist may recommend Invisalign chewies to help get your aligners situated on your teeth.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Invisalign takes six to 12 months to complete on average. However, the overall treatment is usually shorter than using metal braces. Factors that influence your treatment time include your age, gaps in your smile, and severe crowding. By strictly following your treatment’s guidelines, you can better control the speed and effectiveness of your Invisalign therapy.
Will wearing Invisalign impact my speech?
Invisalign may cause some slight speech alterations when you first wear them until you acclimate to them. Since they’re designed to fit your teeth perfectly, any uncomfortable feelings will fade within the first few days. Invisalign aligners are very unlikely to cause any significant changes to your speaking ability and will certainly cause nothing permanent.
What should I do if I lose my Invisalign?
It isn’t uncommon for patients to lose their aligners. Fortunately, most treatment plans include the cost of replacement trays. Call your Invisalign dentist for further assistance if your aligner is lost or broken. They can also help replace your teen’s aligners as well since they are more prone to losing their Invisalign trays, ensuring they achieve a lovely smile.
